If you’re visiting Paris, you’re virtually required to see the Eiffel Tower. Going to India? The Taj Mahal is probably on your to-do list. Landmarks are an easy way to orient travelers and help locales put themselves on the map.

But not all landmarks are as famous—or as synonymous with their home country—as those examples. See if you can identify which of these places are host to some fascinating attractions in the quiz below.

One benefit to seeking out more obscure landmarks: reducing wait times. Visitors to the Eiffel Tower can wait up to three hours before getting a chance to ascend to the top. You can also expect to idle when queuing up for the Colosseum in Rome, the Empire State Building in New York City, and the London Eye.

Whether you opt for a famous landmark or an obscure one, don’t delay with the expectation it will be there forever. The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy was built 850 years ago but in the 1990s was tilting so precariously—5.5 degrees—that it required restoration efforts to keep it from collapse.
