Members of Generation X are used to being overlooked. The term “latchkey kid” was coined to describe the phenomenon of 1970s and ’80s schoolchildren being expected to take care of themselves from a young age. Today, Gen Xers are more likely to be left out of the cultural conversation in favor of Baby Boomers and Millennials—and most recently, Gen Z.
