Director Spike Lee released his first feature filmShe's GottaHave It, in the summer of 1986. In honor of the movie's 30th anniversary, Lee and notebook manufacturer Moleskine have collaborated on a run of limited-edition notebooks.
Made in pink to honor Lee's mother, Jacquelyn (it was her favorite color), the front cover of the 240-page notebook features a silk-screened image of actress Tracy Camilla Johns as the character Nola Darling, while the inside covers feature photo collages of scenes from the film, cast and crew credits, and a list of Lee's other "joints." Each of the 3000 notebooks is individually numbered and comes with a set of themed stickers and a paper bookmark.
For the release of the notebooks, Lee will be holding a book signing at the Moleskine Store in New York City's SoHo neighborhood on July 30. Fans are invited to register for the event online so that they can purchase the notebook and meet the Oscar-nominated director. Lee will be on hand for another signing at the Barnes & Noble in New York City's Union Square on August 4. For those who can't make either event, the She's Gotta Have It notebooks are also available at other Moleskine stores and can be purchased online for $24.95.
