Watch a DeLorean Transform Into a Custom Hot Tub

What do you give the Back to the Future (1985) fan who has everything? The team over at Super-Fan Builds was recently tasked with adding some flair to an already tricked-out BTTF-themed garage and they decided to think outside the box. With some help from DeLorean Motor Cars, they were able to use the frame of a coveted DeLorean DMC-12 to build a hot tub time machine (actual hot tub, not actual time machine) with gull wing doors and prop components that mimic the iconic ride.

After sourcing various parts directly from the DMC factory in California, the builders got to work modifying the vehicle so the tub could fit where the hood, windshield, and front row seats should be. They also added actuators to the base so that the car could be raised to add a couple feet of head room. The short video doesn't show the full build process, but it does include some of the nuts and bolts, as well as a sweet reveal for the superfan recipient.

Earlier this year, it was announced that production of DeLoreans would resume by 2017, and there are still places where fans can buy original parts from the 1980s, which means in theory, you could build one of these yourself. Just be careful with the Flux capacitor.
