Watch This Supercut of the Most Evil Smiles in Film History
Most movie villains are famous—and feared—for the terrifying things they do. We remember Freddy Kreuger for his dream invasions in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), Patrick Bateman for his murderous inclinations in American Psycho (2000), and Hannibal Lecter for his cannibalism in the Hannibal Lecter franchise. But sometimes the creepiest thing a movie villain can do is one of the simplest: smile.
In “When The Evil Smiles,” videographer Semih Okmn has compiled some of the most sinister smiles in cinematic history. From the grins of classic maniacs and supervillains to evil nurses and corrupt bankers, the satisfied smiles of villains shown in the video are simultaneously fantastical and mundane. Set to Barry Manilow’s “Can’t Smile Without You,” the supercut includes some of Hollywood’s greatest villains in their most unnervingly happy moments. Check it out above.
