Drifting off to sleep while snuggling with a pet might be sweet, but it’s not necessarily restful—especially if your dog or cat is a bedhog. Enter Colchão Inteligente Postural’s mattress, a “bunk bed” of sorts that allows pet owners to share a bed with their animals without having to jockey for sleeping space.

The base of the Brazilian company’s new mattress contains a removable box that can serve as a pet bed. Colchão Inteligente’s CEO Filipe Machado Guterson told ABC News that the box can be as large or as small as a client wants—but the larger the pet bed, the larger the actual bed will have to be. The box, which is made of medium-density fiberboard and upholstered with fabric, can be removed and cleaned with a damp cloth, according to a post on Colchão Inteligente’s Facebook page. Customers can opt to add a curtain, which can also be removed and cleaned.

Guterson created the first pet bed in 2013 at the request of a customer who wanted to sleep with her pooch but didn’t actually want the dog, which had health problems, in bed with her. The company, which operates in Brazil and Argentina and will launch U.S. operations soon, was founded in 1988 and began making custom mattresses in 2012.
