Whether they’re carnivores or herbivores, small or large, scaly or feathered, each animal species has its own distinct way of attacking its prey. While most of us have seen nature documentaries about large mammals on the prowl, some of the smaller or more obscure species sometimes get overlooked.

Fortunately, BBC Earth Unplugged has created a mash-up of a variety of animals attacking in glorious slow motion. The video showcases the movements specific to each species by placing them against a blank background and filming them up close.
