Wouldn't you love to watch a documentary about Bill Nye The Science Guy? Of course you would. And so would at least 16,374 other people (and counting).
That's how many backers "Bill Nye Film" has gained so far on Kickstarter—and with just a few hours to go, it's also earned the title of highest funded documentary in the crowd-funding site's history, passing their $650,000 goal to garner $822,867 so far.
Filmmakers David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg promise exclusive, "full access" footage of Bill "as he tours the globe, advocates for space policy in Washington DC, launches a satellite, hangs out with Neil deGrasse Tyson, debates climate change deniers, and attempts to fill the big shoes of his former mentor and friend Carl Sagan—all at a time when science is under attack." Bill's already on board (evinced by his appearance in the pitch video below):
A range of authentic Science Guy autographs and accessories are up for grabs if you contribute to the project, too. Sure, the $500 signed personal limericks—written by Bill himself—are all sold out, but there are still some more signed bow ties left (ones that Bill himself has worn!) for $1500. There are also plenty of lower-price point goodies that seem almost as awesome, like a doggie bow tie that's presumably never been worn.
And since you're definitely already singing "Bill! Bill! Bill!" in your head right now, here's the theme song (to get you pumped for the documentary):
