Identifying the creator of rock ‘n’ roll is easier said than done. Like many music genres, it evolved from a mixture of influences that ranged from the rhythm-and-blues stylings of Chuck Berry and Little Richard to the country numbers of Hank Williams. As the 20th century progressed, rock expanded into a web of subgenres, including punk, grunge, psychedelic, heavy metal, pop, Christian, and so on. In other words, what it means to be a rock star is open to interpretation.
That said, most rock stars do have something in common beyond their musical predilections: their knack for choosing statement accessories. From funky glasses to bold facial hair, rockers curate their images with the same level of care they devote to their songs—and after a while, it’s hard to picture a certain frontman without his unforgettable headband (or top hat).
To celebrate Father’s Day, musical instrument retailer Rimmers Music has designed a brainteaser that features an iconic accessory from 16 rock godfathers across various eras. If you can name the corresponding musicians in five minutes or less, you’ve earned the right to call yourself a certified rock ‘n’ roll genius.
