One of reading’s greatest pleasures is that it doesn’t have to be a solitary endeavor. This summer, Mental Floss is inviting readers around the globe to join together to discuss some of history’s greatest books (plus something for the kids, too) with The Mental Floss Book Club.
This online book club, which will officially kick off on July 15th, is designed to bring readers of all ages together to discuss some of the world’s most beloved books, from Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Whether you’ve read a chosen title 100 times before or it’s a book you’ve long been meaning to finish, the content and conversations around each tome will offer new insights and points of view, little-known facts, and the chance to have a little fun with surveys, quizzes, and more.
The book club will be led by Mental Floss’s team of dedicated bibliophiles, with insights from scholars and other experts. The Mental Floss Book Club will officially kick off on July 29th, with two weeks dedicated to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, and will cover a total of six titles.
July 29 - August 10: Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice
August 11 - August 17: Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit
August 18 - August 31: Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
September 1 - September 14: William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet
September 15 - September 28: Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women
September 29 - October 12: Bram Stoker’s Dracula
Think you don’t have the time to re-read one of these classic titles? You do! Mental Floss has partnered with the Paper & Packaging – How Life Unfolds® “15 Pages A Day” reading initiative to make sure that everyone has the opportunity (and time) to take part. It’s easy! Take the pledge, and share what you hope to accomplish with your 15 pages a day. (Click here to read more about the many benefits of reading just 15 pages per day.)
