Turn Your Living Room Into a Forest With Framed Moss Art
Want to bring a touch of color and natural beauty into your home? You don’t have to load up on succulents and houseplants to give your interiors a green, earthy feel.
An array of maintenance-free artworks made of moss, leaves, cones, and other “fruits of nature” are available for preorder on Kickstarter. The collection of framed pictures—called Artwist Modul—is the brainchild of Serbian artist Sanela Isailovic. She hails from a family of gardeners and sought a fun and practical way of preserving their memories of trips to the forest.
The result? Minimalist, double-sided pictures that require no watering, pruning, or sunlight. One side is made entirely of reindeer moss that was handpicked (in a sustainable way) from the Scandinavian forest. The other side features a more detailed design made of natural materials like bark, wood stumps, and different plants—such as chestnut, poppy, and burdock. The pictures can be combined in different ways on a wall or desk to create an endless number of unique designs.
All of the pieces are non-toxic and non-allergenic. They also last longer than you might expect. “It keeps its form, texture, and color for a number of years—three years guaranteed durability, but product lifetime reaches five to 10 years,” according to the product’s Kickstarter page.
A single medium-sized picture (38-by-38-by-7 centimeters) costs $160, but 10 smaller pieces (18-by-18-by-7 centimeters) can be purchased for $495. To view all of the combinations for sale, check out the project's Kickstarter page.
