Bananagrams is an addictive word game that includes 144 letter tiles encased in a yellow banana-shaped bag, and it's a real gem for all the family, whether you're 7 or 97. This great game is designed for between 2 and 8 players. But the rules can be adapted to suit your environment and personal preference, heck you can even play on your own.
The game begins by emptying all 144 tiles face down in a pile and each player selecting a set amount of tiles, which is dependent on the number of players in the game. Each player then creates their own connecting and intersecting words, much like a crossword grid, at the same time as the rest of the players.
The game play continues until one player either completes their grid using all the tiles and shouts "bananas", or a predetermined time limit runs out. But of course, it's not quite as simple as all that. When a player has no tiles left they must shout "peel" and take one from the remaining tiles left in the middle pile. This continues until there are fewer tiles than players, which is the moment the game can be won.
And that's not all. Throughout the game you can rearrange your own grid, and if you have a tile that you can't use you can shout "dump", return it to the middle pile, but remember to pick up three in its place!
Bananagrams comes with no bulky board and requires no pen or paper, making it a great travel companion, holiday buddy and restaurant time killer. It's simple, versatile and educational, but most of all it's great family fun!
