Vincent van Gogh's fluid, surreal style of painting is unmistakable. In this video spotted by Sploid, artist Garip Ay pays tribute to the artist's distinctive look by recreating The Starry Night and van Gogh's self portrait on the surface of a pool of water.

He begins by dyeing his liquid canvas black and splotching the water with blobs of paint. As he drags his brush through the water, the scene slowly starts to transform into recreations of van Gogh's most iconic masterpieces. Just the footage of the artist's mesmerizing process is a work of art in itself. You can subscribe to Ay's YouTube channel to see more of his unconventional paintings.
