Legendary filmmaker John Carpenter both directed and composed the scores for beloved cult science fiction, horror, and action movies like Escape From New York (1981), They Live (1988), Halloween (1978), and The Thing (1982). He’s responsible for creating some of the most iconic movie theme music of the '80s—and now, he’s taking his distinct, synth-heavy musical stylings on tour.

AV Club explains that Carpenter will be embarking on a world tour accompanied by his son Cody Carpenter and godson Dave Davies. He’ll be performing music from his latest album, Lost Themes II, as well as some of his movie themes from the last three decades. In preparation for the tour, Carpenter and his band recorded a live music video of the theme from Escape From New York. The video, also directed by Carpenter, shows the filmmaker and his family band jamming out in their home studio and having a great time. Check it out above.
