One of the biggest annoyances of the digital age is the need for proprietary cables. The introduction of a new device often means you need a new connector cable, which equals more money and more workspace clutter. In what could be big news for the tech world, a company called LMcable recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a project that would mass-produce a cord that features a 2-in-1 connector that works with both lightning and micro USB devices.

While other dual-purpose cables on the market have swappable adapters or multiple leads on one end, the LMcable has a specially designed connector on one end that fits both device types without needing to make any changes other than flipping the cord over. The tangle-free cable can be used to transfer data or charge most smartphones, tablets, and other USB devices, and LMcable claims it's 10 times more durable than a standard cord.

The Kickstarter campaign launched with a modest goal of $3580, with 65 percent of that money reserved for production. With nearly a month left on the clock, over 2000 backers have already pledged more than $47,000. For more information about LMcable, visit the company’s website.
