Artist and musician Josh Carrafa is slowly retelling music history in a whole new way: GIFs. His charming 8-bit animations depict monumental moments in music for a given year. These moments can be anything from the debut of a new music festival to the release of an important record. Carrafa posts the GIFs on his Tumblr, Music History In GIFs, and NME took the time to sort through these delightful animations to string together a timeline that spans from 1964 to 2012, which you can scroll through here. You can see Radiohead's 2007 album In Rainbows come to life, the Beatles play The Ed Sullivan Show, and Ozzy Osbourne bite the head off a dove. Even Psy gets a shout-out.
