Like many of us, Stephen Colbert seems to have noticed that global (and extraterrestrial) entrepreneur Elon Musk has been shaking things up in numerous areas of human innovation over the past several years. So Colbert brought the semi-mysterious mogul, engineer, and SpaceX/Tesla CEO onstage during day two of his reign at The Late Show.

Colbert points out that his guest’s billionaire status and determination to change the world (seemingly for the better) make him a likely candidate for being either a real-life superhero or supervillain. However, when Musk reveals his vision for the “fast way” to warm up Mars—by nuking its poles, of course—the comedian and host sees the scales tip toward the latter.
