Tie-Dye Frappuccino From Starbucks Is the New Drink of the Summer
Since it first hit menus in 1993, the Frappuccino has evolved from a basic, sugary coffee drink to a canvas for Starbucks's wildest ideas. The coffee shop chain has released unicorn, birthday cake, and zombie versions of its iconic drink. According to Bustle, the latest limited-edition creation from Starbucks is a Tie-Dye Frappuccino that comes in rainbow colors.
Like the viral Frappuccinos Starbucks has rolled out in the past, the Tie-Dye Frappuccino is a technicolor monstrosity. The icy drink is blend of red, yellow, and blue shades reminiscent of something you'd wear to a jam band concert. It is topped with vanilla whipped cream and dusted with powder in the same colors. Starbucks says the Frappuccino has a tropical fruit flavor and uses natural dyes from turmeric, red beet, and spirulina to achieve its vibrant look.
The tie-dye drink screams summer, but it may not stick around until Labor Day. The special Frappuccino launches at select locations today, July 10, and is only available for a limited time. Starbucks hasn't specified exactly how long the offer runs, but it writes on its website, "Just like the peak of summer, the Tie-Dye Frappuccino blended beverage is available for only a few days."
This latest Frappuccino from Starbucks will be a short-lived treat, but the company has released versions in the past that are even scarcer. Some, like the Red Bean Cream Frappuccino, are only available in other countries, and other versions don't even appear on the menu.
