Designing and building a castle is hard work, even with a whole team of skilled craftsmen. But that doesn't mean some people haven't tried constructing one all by themselves. In fact, io9 has the stories of more than ten castles that were designed and built by only one particular person.
For example, this gorgeous wooden structure was constructed by Nikolai Petrovich Sutyagin. By the time the Russian home was completed, it was over 13 stories and featured a tower that stood almost 150 feet tall. Unfortunately, Sutyagin's city had a building ordinance limiting wooden structures to no more than three stories as they believed them to be fire hazards. As a result, the whole castle was torn down in 2008.
