At the Libraries: Yes, We Can Find That

Each week Miss Kathleen provides links to a variety of stories about libraries, authors, and books. If there’s something noteworthy going on in your local library, leave us a comment!

Ever finished a book and thought, Hey, that narrator would just love Holden Caulfield, or Gandalf, or some such other book character? Well, Flavorwire has compiled just such a list. I'm not 100% sure about all of these, but it is a fun idea. Add your own in the comments!

Here's an update on the story I covered last week, about a mom who was arrested at the library.

Sad sad sad...
*
Please do not come to us and ask for fake books! But if you do, at least be as funny as The Hairpin was about it.
*
Commercialization alert! Book publishers want to start storytimes in local malls. I have long thought that this would be a great library outreach move, but doing it to sell books... well I'm not so sure how I feel about that.
*
Empathy! Everybody's talking about it, trying to teach it to their kids. What's a great way to learn it? Reading, of course!
*
Here are some real questions reference librarians have been asked—rather tricky, too!
*
How else can librarians help you? Watch the University of Tulsa's McFarlin Library video to find out just that!
*
And if none of that floats your boat, take a cue from good old F. Scott and his most famous creation, Jay Gatsby.

I mentioned America's Littlest Library before. Now check out the Little Free Library. You can make your own to add to your community. Such a sweet idea!

As always, send me an email about interesting library stuff that you find, or leave it in the comments. See you guys next week!
