The majority of people who give stand-up comedy a try struggle to cobble together 5-10 minutes of material strong enough to hold an audience’s attention. But for comedian Bob Marley, 5 measly minutes amounted to just 1/480th of the comedy set he completed on September 23. The veteran joke-teller set a new Guinness World Record by telling jokes for 40 continuous hours – narrowly besting the previous world record of 38 hours and 16 minutes. And, he was able to go for more than 17 hours without ever repeating any of his material. Eat your heart out, open mic’ers.
The performance raised money for the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center. You can read more details and see video of Marley’s amazing joke longevity here.
