If you have ever lived in California, you probably understand the true magic that is an animal-style In-N-Out double double. Those who haven't may be wondering what the big deal is...it's just a burger they speculate, but let me assure you, it is far more than just a burger and there are whole cults built on less miraculous occurrences than this.
That's why it is so exciting that J. Kenji Lopez over at Serious Eats has reverse engineered the magic and recreated it in his home kitchen that's probably around 3,000 miles away from an In-N-Out Burger. Those of you who can no longer get your hands on the delicacy, and those who have never bathed in its epicurean glory, can now make your own animal-style double doubles at home.
Although I live in Southern California, I was curious how the recipe compared and let me say, when I made my own, it was even better than those in the restaurant. Best of all, Kenji has also recreated the secret of McDonald's fries, so you can be sure your burger isn't lonely.
