Married to the Eiffel Tower
Every time you think you've heard it all, something new comes along and blows the doors off your preconceptions. At least that's what happens to me -- and happened when I found out about objectum sexuality, which is how people who have intimate relationships with objects self-define. It all came to the mainstream's attention last year with an article in Bizarre magazine about a German woman named Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer who has been married to the Berlin Wall for 29 years, and whose legal name is Mrs. Berlin Wall. ("The Great Wall of China's attractive, but he's too thick," she explained. "My husband is sexier.") When the wall was torn down, she claims it was one of the worst days of her life. "What they did was awful. They mutilated my husband." According to the Telegraph, "She is said to have shifted her affections to a nearby garden fence."
If this all sounds too, well, bizarre to be true, then take 20 minutes and treat yourself to the following documentary, Married to the Eiffel Tower, released last year.
