The Casual Vacancy may not be getting the best reviews (ouch, Michiko!), but it did break some records! Including the little known "started reading" bit on Goodreads. I'm sure sales haven't been too bad, either.

HuffPo has the list of the ten most challenged books so far this year and a pretty nifty graph to go along with it, showing why each book was challenged. Who'd have guessed My Mom's Having a Baby! was sexually explicit?

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" did so much more for the public good than just slay vampires. For example, she and her crew also highlighted the value of doing research to solve problems. Really, really bad problems, if I recall.
